As a child, I had a 'studio' [a picnic bench and a dangling light bulb in the big crawl space under the house]
So I went to school, got a BFA in illustration, [the closest thing to fine art] worked as an illustrator and graphic designer for years. But fell in love with oil painting after seeing a painting that brought me to tears. And now I'm back at it, except not under the house. and mostly on weekends since I work full time as an art director in Birmingham.
I like painting outdoors- plein air, trying to capture a moment or light/shadows.
I'm ever growing/learning how to see and how to paint.
“We do not want merely to see beauty... we want something else which can hardly be put into words- to be united with the beauty we see, to pass into it, to receive it into ourselves, to bathe in it, to become part of it. That is why we have peopled air and earth and water with gods and goddesses, and nymphs and elves.”
